As ‘Flatlanders,’ we prairie dwellers have been doing double time to soak up this amazing heat and sunshine. We’re tough Canadians, thriving in our harsh, cold winters, but we often forget that our skin isn’t tough enough to ward off the drastic effects of the piercing summer rays.

There are immeasurable benefits to sunshine, and we shouldn’t totally avoid it. When natural sunlight hits the skin, it triggers the body’s production of vitamin D. This is good for overall health. It can help with mood, sleep, and bone health and skin to name a few. It’s no wonder we want to spend as much time as we can outdoors in summer.

The problem is that there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Most of us have experienced that intense, painful affect of overdoing it, with excruciating red, painful skin that feels hot to the touch. Intense, and repeated sunburn also increases permanent skin damage and diseases and takes days to fade and heal.

Medical professionals urge people to use preventative measures to protect their skin in summer. But let’s face it; sun overexposure and sunburns are still happening.

Homeopathy can definitely help, even after symptoms like redness, hot skin, pain, tenderness, headache, fever, nausea and itching have presented. It’s safe, effective and fast-acting.

Here are some of the homeopathic remedies that often lessen, and may even reverse the signs and symptoms of sunburn:
